Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković opened the reconstructed Vela Riva in Mali Lošinj on Monday, 20 July. Almost €2.92 million including VAT was invested in the restoration of part of the operational waterfront of the local port.
The project involved redesigning the port square, constructing a new ticket office, repairing the sea wall, and landscaping public and horticultural areas. The largest share of the funding, just over €2 million, was provided by the Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure. The County Port Authority Mali Lošinj contributed approximately €673 thousand, and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County €212.5 thousand.
During his working visit to the island, Butković also inspected works on the reconstruction of the state road DC100 between Mali Lošinj and Veli Lošinj. The project, valued at €7.26 million, includes the restoration of approximately two kilometres of roadway, a new roundabout with access roads on the DC100 and the county road ŽC5159, as well as the construction of footpaths, a cycle path and public lighting.
The aim of the road intervention, according to the Ministry's statement, is to increase safety and the quality of transport connectivity in that part of the island.
