The Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy will issue the first recruitment drives next week for the employment of personal assistants in state social care institutions, Poslovni dnevnik reports. The aim is to hire an additional approximately 2,000 workers who are currently lacking so that people with disabilities can fully exercise their right to personal assistance.
"We are aware that there is currently a shortage of personal assistants and this decision on employment is precisely aimed at securing this missing number as a necessary measure," said the Minister of Labour, Alen Ružić.
Assistants will be able to work in more than 50 state social care institutions or associations, with the option to choose their employer. Personal assistance services are available 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays, and for users who need round-the-clock help, the engagement of multiple assistants per person is planned.
A coefficient of 1.37 is applied to calculate salary, and the Ministry has announced that the basic salary will increase in the autumn. Rights under collective agreements, the Ministry states, remain fully secured.
