Ličko-Senj County has received nearly 337 thousand euros in grant funding to strengthen healthcare. The allocation agreement was signed last weekend, the Novi list reports.
The funds are earmarked for a project investing in capacities for primary and specialist-consiliary healthcare. The agreement was signed by County President Ernest Petry, Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Nataša Mikuš Žigman, SAFU Director Dragan Jelić, and Minister of Health Irena Hrstić.
The funds come from a call under the Competitiveness and Cohesion 2021–2027 programme. The programme’s objective is to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure equal access to care. It also encourages the transition from institutional care to care within the family and community.
President Petry explained that SAFU first conducted a consolidated allocation phase. This included an administrative review and an assessment of the eligibility of the applicant, project, activities, and costs. It was determined that the project meets all prescribed criteria.
The financing decision was made on 9 June 2026, and the county was approved for exactly 337,011.93 euros. This amount covers 100 per cent of the project’s eligible costs. It is also the highest amount that could be allocated under this agreement.
Alongside the County as the beneficiary, the agreement was concluded by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds as the managing authority, SAFU as the second-level intermediate body, and the Ministry of Health as the sectoral competent authority. The county highlights that this continues the investment in the healthcare sector, which brings new developments week by week.
