In the Municipal Palace in Pula on Monday, 14 July, a contract for the award of non-repayable funds for the establishment of a multifunctional centre in the Municipality of Ližnjan was signed. The total value of the project is €1,781,868, of which €1,325,320 in non-repayable funds was approved through the Integrated Territorial Programme 2021–2027.
The project involves the reconstruction and conversion of an existing abandoned building into a modern centre that will bring together health, social, cultural, educational and social facilities in one place. Residents will thus gain access to a general medicine outpatient clinic, a dental practice, a veterinary clinic, as well as a library and reading room with multimedia content, alongside spaces for association work.
Implementation runs from 2 June 2026 to 2 June 2028. In addition to the building renovation, the surrounding area will be landscaped with native plantings and a car park with 12 spaces will be built, two of which are designated for people with disabilities. After the occupancy permit is issued, photovoltaic systems will also be installed on the building.
The signing was attended by Pula Deputy Mayor Siniša Gordić, Ližnjan Municipality Head Marko Ravnić, and Head of the Department for ITU Mechanism Implementation Morena Mičetić. Gordić described the project as an example of good practice "on how European funds can directly improve citizens' quality of life".
Ravnić emphasised that this was an "investment in people and the quality of life of all our residents". More than 900 pensioners will gain space for socialising and recreation, while nearly 800 children and young people will for the first time have access to a modern municipal library and reading room. The entire building will be adapted for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.
