The City of Daruvar has been granted €3,681,353.89 in grants for the revitalisation of Count Janković’s Park, one of the most valuable green spaces in the town’s historic centre. Of the total amount, €3,129,150.80 comes from European Union funds, under the call "Development of Green Infrastructure in Urban Areas".
The funding decision was awarded on 10 June at a ceremony attended by the Daruvar mayor, alongside representatives from other towns whose green infrastructure projects had been approved.
The project entails the complete restoration of the park adjacent to Janković Castle, covering an area of nearly 28,000 square metres. Pedestrian paths and staircases will be renovated, urban furniture installed, and safety and accessibility improved for all visitors. More than 100 native trees and nearly 3,700 shrubs will be planted in the park.
The project applicant is the City of Daruvar, with the project proposal prepared by the Daruvar Development Agency in collaboration with the Zagreb-based architectural firm Ascom-invest.
The city administration states that this investment allows Daruvar to continue investing in quality of life, environmental protection, and the preservation of cultural heritage. The park next to the Janković family castle is part of the town’s historic core, so the restoration holds heritage value for future generations alongside its horticultural benefits.
