The municipal company Park in Buzet will soon begin separate waste collection with a new electric truck. At its July meeting, the Buzet Town Council approved a short-term loan of €86,000 for the company to pay its share in the vehicle purchase via financial leasing.
The loan is intended to bridge the gap between cash inflows and payment deadlines, ensuring the company does not jeopardise its liquidity. Park had secured €86,000 in non-repayable funds (excluding VAT) through a public call by the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, covering half of the estimated eligible procurement costs. The Fund will pay the subsidy within 30 days of submitting complete documentation, while Park must pay its share within eight days of taking delivery of the vehicle.
Following a public procurement process, a leasing agreement was signed with BKS Leasing Croatia from Zagreb. Mayor Damir Kajin announced that the handover of the truck, which costs €228,000 with VAT, is expected to take place as early as this week.
Kajin recalled that the municipal company has acquired four new trucks, a new tractor, and two used sweepers over the past four years. He emphasised that Buzet is clearly the best in Istria for waste sorting and among the two or three most successful towns in Croatia, thanking Park’s director and her staff. Park’s director, Ervina Kisiček, added that the waste separation rate in the Buzet area has exceeded 60 per cent for the past two years, which enabled the company to secure 50 per cent co-financing, unlike areas that have not achieved such results.
At the same meeting, Deputy Commander of the Public Fire Brigade Denis Prodan warned that fire vehicles are, on average, over 20 years old, and announced that the brigade expects a new forest fire vehicle from the relevant ministry, costing around €300,000.
