The Voluntary Fire Department Kalinovac has received a new fire van. It will be used for interventions and transporting members to fire competitions, ePodravina.hr reported.

The formal handover took place in front of the Ivan Lacković Croata Primary School in Kalinovac. Attendees included County Prefect Tomislav Golubić, Member of Parliament and Head of the Municipality of Kalinovac Darko Sobota, and Commander of the Fire Community of the Municipality of Kalinovac Željko Zalar.

The vehicle is worth 10 thousand euros. Koprivnica-Križevci County allocated 6.666,66 euros for the purchase, while the remainder was funded by the Municipality of Kalinovac.

In this year's county budget for the work of the Koprivnica-Križevci County Fire Community and the development of firefighting, 280 thousand euros have been secured. An additional 66 thousand euros is earmarked for the purchase of equipment for fire communities of towns and municipalities and voluntary departments in the area of Koprivnica, Križevci and Đurđevac.

"The investments we are making are a response to the challenges firefighters face today," Prefect Golubić said. He added that investing in the training of firefighters and fire youth is a long-term investment for the stability of the system. The County, he announced, will continue to be a support for all needs in firefighting.

It was highlighted at the handover that the County regularly participates in the purchase of fire vehicles and protective equipment. The aim is to ensure better working conditions for firefighters and greater readiness for interventions.
