Electric minibuses have arrived in Jastrebarsko and are scheduled to be available to residents by the end of the year. Transport will be free in the first phase.
The vehicles were handed over by WAWA d.o.o. to Mayor Zvonimir Novosel and his team, along with Nenad Strizrep, director of Cesta Jastrebarsko, who presented the next stages of the project.
Three bus routes will be established in the first phase. One will circulate through the town, with alternating transport to the Economic Zone, while the other two will connect low-lying suburban settlements with the town centre. The timetable will be published before services begin, and the payment system will initially be used solely to record passenger numbers.
Test drives will take place over the coming months, with representatives of local neighbourhood committees involved in public transport participating in the final phase.
Necessary infrastructure, primarily charging stations, is being built in parallel, with funding secured from European sources. A project for the installation of bus stops is also underway.
The vehicles are electric minibuses manufactured by the Turkish company Karsana, with a capacity of 21 passengers, adapted for narrower city streets. They are being procured under a call by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The contract value is €1.4 million including VAT, and includes driver training.
