The second phase of construction of the Zadar County Shellfish Centre in Selina, near Zadar, has been completed, providing the locality with new infrastructure for the farming and processing of shellfish.
As part of the second phase, a breakwater with complex geometry and a parapet wall was built, along with an operational quay featuring a 20-metre-long stone wall and a slipway for boats measuring 5 by 15 metres, intended for vessel maintenance. A platform for cleaning shellfish with an area of approximately 124 square metres was also constructed, and the harbour was dredged to a depth of two metres.
The value of the second phase works is €915,872.92 including VAT. The majority was funded by the Zadar Port Authority, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure provided €800,000, and the remainder was co-financed by Zadar County. The contractor was Kali gradnja, while the project and supervision were handled by the Split-based company Coastal Engineering.
The centre is intended to develop aquaculture and mariculture and improve conditions for the farming, reception and processing of shellfish within the county. The third phase is next, which will include capacities for the reception, processing, cleaning and dispatch of shellfish.
