The City of Sinj will distribute the alkarica of 50 euros this year, ten euros more than last year, and pensioners with pensions up to 450 euros will also be eligible. The decision on the distribution of alkarica for 2026 was made by the mayor of Sinj, Miro Bulj.
The support is intended for pensioners, parent carers and carers, recipients of the national allowance, people over 65 years of age without income, and the unemployed, including unemployed Croatian veterans. The condition is residence in the area of the City of Sinj, and the alkarica can still only be claimed under one basis.
The amount of support has increased from last year’s 40 to 50 euros, a rise of 25 per cent. At the same time, the threshold for pensioners has been raised from 350 to 450 euros of pension, so a significantly wider group of beneficiaries will be eligible for payment than in previous years.
The City states that the measure aims to help citizens living on the lowest incomes, particularly pensioners facing rising living costs, and to preserve the alkarica as a traditional form of support ahead of the Alka festivities.
