The Municipality of Kostrena will once again provide high school students with a residence in its area with an 80-euro gift voucher for the purchase of textbooks, second educational material, and school supplies for this school year, Novi list reports.
The vouchers will be issued in the municipality from 3 August until the end of September, and are valid until 31 October at the bookshops of Narodne novine, Školska knjiga, Hoću knjigu, and V.B.Z. To claim the right, applicants must submit proof of residence and confirmation of enrolment for the 2026/2027 school year.
For pupils who have already purchased textbooks or supplies at another bookshop or online, the municipality will refund costs up to 80 euros per student, upon presentation of the original receipt and a request submitted no later than 31 October.
For primary school pupils with a residence in Kostrena, the municipality is purchasing all supplementary educational material this year — including sets of exercise books, art folders, geography atlases, and boxes for technical culture — which will await them in their classrooms. First-graders traditionally receive a gift voucher of 40 euros. Children attending school outside Kostrena are also entitled to free material, subject to a cost reimbursement request submitted between 15 July and 30 September.
The municipality will also refund the cost of monthly bus tickets for high school students who must attend practical lessons, exercises, or internships during July and August. Requests, accompanied by confirmation from the employer or school and proof of ticket purchase, must be submitted by 30 September.
The municipality has announced that it will continue to subsidise the difference up to the full monthly bus ticket cost for all regular high school students in the new school year.
