Reconstruction and extension of the sports hall at Konjščina Primary School has officially begun: the contractor was handed over the site on Thursday. The total value of the project is €5,099,000.
The old hall will be demolished. In its place, pupils from the primary and secondary schools, as well as associations from the municipality and surrounding areas, will receive a new three-part hall.
The project is part of the national reform to adapt primary schools to single-shift schooling, with grant funds obtained through a public call totalling €1,782,145. The new hall will have 360 seats, floor dimensions of 59.5 by 49.5 metres, and a total gross area of 2,304 square metres, while the auxiliary rooms of the existing building will be reconstructed according to the standards for primary schools from 2022.
The works will be carried out by MDK Građevinar from Dubrovčan, whose bid was assessed as the most economically advantageous of the four received. A contract worth €4,855,513 has been signed for 16 months: 15 months are allocated for the works, and the final month for the technical inspection and handover of the building. Professional supervision has been entrusted to Solum inženjering for €32,250, and design supervision to Armond, which is also the lead designer, for €26,000.
Head of the County Administrative Department for Public Procurement and EU Funds Vlatka Mlakar highlighted that this is one of a series of projects within the single-shift schooling reform, and that four public procurement procedures were conducted for this investment: three open and one negotiated.
School principal Dragan Roksandić thanked the Krapina-Zagorje County, County Prefect Željko Kolar, the municipal chief, and the ministry. "I believe that all works will proceed according to plan and that the contractor will perform their job to a high standard and within the specified timeframe, so that our pupils can play in their new sports hall as early as 2028," said Roksandić.
