The Rab Fiera is celebrating its 25th edition this year. The jubilee event will be among the most content-rich to date, announced by the City of Rab. The medieval programme has been gathering hundreds of participants and thousands of visitors for a quarter of a century, and this year's edition features the signing of the Charter of Solidarity with partner cities, guests from Argentina, and a closing spectacle with fireworks and a concert by Gipsy Kings by André Reyes.
Rab will sign the Charter of Solidarity with San Marino, Montegiardino, Königsbrunn, Kočevje, and Sežana. This is a tribute to the cities that have participated in the creation and development of the Fiera for years. In addition, on 26 July, the friendship charters with Kočevje, Königsbrunn, and Sežana will be renewed. Rab has been cooperating with Kočevje for 40 years, with Königsbrunn for 30, and with Sežana for 20 years.
The jubilee was also presented in Ljubljana, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana and the representative office of the Croatian National Tourist Board in Slovenia. On this occasion, the international project Transaquam Medium was launched. The director of the Rab City Tourist Board, Ivana Matušan, stated that the campaign is focused on Slovenia, Austria, and Germany. The aim, she says, is to convey to potential guests the "authentic spirit of Rab from 1364".
The director of the Rab Adult Education Centre, Katarina Ribarić, highlighted that the Fiera showcases cultural and ethnological heritage in its original form through about a hundred workshops. The programme will be enriched by special guests — the Croatian youth community from Buenos Aires. The municipal company Dundovo is preparing the infrastructure for the event.
The jubilee Fiera concludes with a spectacle on the last evening of the three-day celebration. After the knightly tournament by the Rab Crossbowmen Association, the sky above Rab harbour will be illuminated at midnight by a fireworks display synchronised with music. The Gipsy Kings by André Reyes will then perform on Municipium Arba Square.
