Saša Milovanović, better known by his stage name Sale Veruda and as the founder and frontman of the Pula punk band KUD Idijoti, and his wife Martina were the target of a violent attack during the night in the very centre of Pula. The incident took place in Sergijevaca Street, where Milovanović has owned a shop for years selling records and CDs.
The attack arose from a conflict with a group of young men passing through the street around midnight. The young men were throwing packaging and litter in front of shops as they moved along, disturbing passers-by. Martina was the first to react and warned them to stop such behaviour, after which Milovanović joined his wife.
Milovanović tried to calm the situation and asked the young men to keep quiet. He warned them that he would call the police if they continued with their inappropriate conduct, but instead of backing down, the young men reacted violently. According to Milovanović, the attackers physically assaulted him with punches and kicks.
Milovanović sustained numerous bruises, scratches and a wrist injury in the attack. After the attackers briefly left the scene, two of them returned. While Milovanović and his wife were sitting on a bench, two of the attackers again lunged at the couple, who tried to defend themselves against the new assault.
