Sinj recorded the fifth highest employment growth among Croatian cities in 2025, both in absolute and relative terms regarding the increase in the number of employed people. This was shown by an analysis of data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics published by the portal Gradonačelnik.hr, as reported by the City of Sinj.
The number of employed people in Sinj increased by 4.329 persons during last year, which according to the analysis represents a growth of 115.13 per cent compared to the previous year. Only Velika Gorica, Samobor, Kaštela and Zaprešić recorded a higher absolute increase.
Employment grew last year in 96 out of a total of 128 Croatian cities, where 14.075 more people were registered as employed than a year earlier. In Croatian cities in total, more than 1.1 million people are employed.
Nationally, around 1.7 million people were employed in 2025. The employment rate rose to 68.8 per cent, while unemployment fell to 4.9 per cent, which is among the lowest levels in recent decades. Employers are simultaneously finding it increasingly difficult to reach workers, so last year more than 170 thousand permits for residence and work were issued to foreigners, the most in construction, tourism, industry and transport.
Data from the Croatian Employment Service also confirm that the local labour market is strengthening: the number of unemployed people in Sinj decreased by 655 persons over four years, or by more than 40 per cent.
The City of Sinj attributes the growth to an increase in the number of entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals, as well as investments in business zones and infrastructure. According to data from the Digital Chamber of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the largest share of registered economic entities in the city area is in construction, with growth in trade, services and manufacturing.
