Officers from the Križevci Police Station have completed a criminal investigation against two men, aged 35 and 60, from the wider Križevci area, on suspicion of illegally possessing weapons whose possession is prohibited to civilians, the Koprivnica-Križevci Police Administration announced.
Searches of the homes and vehicles used by the two suspects were carried out on the basis of a warrant from the Bjelovar County Court. During the operation, police found and seized six rifles: three smoothbore guns, an M48 rifle, a small-calibre rifle with an optical sight, and another rifle with an optical sight.
A metal silencer, 247 shotgun cartridges, 227 pieces of various ammunition, and an air rifle were also confiscated.
The criminal investigation was conducted on suspicion of the criminal offence of illegal possession, manufacture, and procurement of weapons and explosives. The police stated that a criminal complaint will be filed against the suspects with the competent State Attorney's Office, and they also face a misdemeanor complaint before the misdemeanour court due to violations of the Law on the Acquisition and Possession of Weapons by Civilians.
