The Government of the Republic of Croatia adopted a decision at its 187th telephone meeting approving the crossing of the state border by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. This measure is aimed at providing humanitarian assistance to France in combating the outbreaks of fire. It represents a concrete step in international solidarity during a time of crisis.

The legal basis for this action stems from the Defence Act. This law clearly stipulates that the Armed Forces may cross the state border to provide humanitarian assistance to another state. Such a Government decision is adopted only with the prior consent of the President of the Republic. This ensures the constitutionality and legality of the international military intervention for humanitarian purposes.

To execute this task in France, one aircraft of the Canadair CL-415 type from the Croatian Air Force will be used. This specialised aircraft is known for its efficiency in firefighting. It is particularly suitable for operations covering large areas of forest land.

The operation will be carried out by two crews of members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. Their presence and expertise are key to the successful execution of the task. This ensures that Croatian assistance is maximally utilised in fighting the wildfires affecting French territory.
